Letter from a Patients Family

I wanted to take a quick moment to let you know what an outstanding job the employees of Potomac Falls Health & Rehab Center have shown during these complicated and unpredictable times.

As a caregiver, very involved with my mother’s care through constant visitations to Potomac Falls, it goes without saying that it can be a bit stressful to be now placed in a position where we can no longer visit our loved ones.  We realized the importance of family visitations, a loving touch, and a caring heart.

And while it’s obvious that no situation is perfect, especially in such trying times, Potomac Falls has excelled in their performance of trying to maintain an atmosphere of caring and excellence.

Therefore, I must tell you that the employees of Potomac Falls, beginning from the very top John Mitchell (Administrator), down to the housekeeping crew, admissions, front desk receptionist, rehab, activities, kitchen, social workers, administration, maintenance, and of course nursing staff and aides, have shown a performance of nothing short of phenomenal!  And let me tell you, there is no better person than myself who can make such a comparison.

With a mother who is blind, it makes it even more difficult to make contact, since ‘facetime” would obviously be of no benefit.  However, the staff has made it as such, that I can call my mother every day and speak with her, by making sure her phone is strategically placed near her working and able hand.

Everyone has gone outside of the boundaries of their positions to help pitch in during a time when it is greatly and immensely needed.  And they have done so without showing any signs of disgust or annoyance, and with a gracious attitude.

John and Charlotte, have played an integral part in keeping family members in the loop, making weekly check-in calls, and keeping the door open for us to call with any concerns, which has made all of the difference.  Given the magnitude of the situation, I don’t really know how they are able to accomplish such a feat.

And as we hear of employees and residents feeling the effects of the current world we live in, it can be slightly unnerving.   However, I feel quite confident thus far with the care my mom has received considering the compounding effects that could make it near impossible to keep your sanity.  I have seen the rigorous precautions the staff has had to endure, therefore, I feel confident that they are practicing the safest measures needed.

It would take much time to list the names of employees that have gone above and beyond the call of duty!

But you should be confident in knowing they have given me peace of mind through their willingness and ableness to see to it that family members such as myself feel at ease as anyone can, during these times!  And that is priceless!

I thank John and his team for showing what true caregivers can display in one of the most trying times the medical industry has seen!  Job well done!!

Sincerely and with gratitude,

Vicki
