2019 CECA 2nd Quarter Winner

Posted on:

Through a partnership with the Ceca Foundation, employees and guest can recognize caregivers by nominating them through an online system. Each quarter, a committee will review the nominations and chooses an individual to be a Ceca Award winner. This individual is someone, “who best exemplifies qualities of empathy, humor, integrity, professionalism, and teamwork in treating patient residents”.  The winner receives, not only, recognition from their peers but also a $250 monetary prize.

Today, we’re happy to announce the 2019 2nd Quarter CECA Award Winner at Potomac Falls Health & Rehab goes to…

Elizabeth Pellegrino, Director of Activities

Congratulations, Elizabeth!

Here is what one of her nominations said about her:

“Elizabeth Pellegrino exemplifies all elements of the word C-A-R-I-N-G!

C- Celebrator:  Elizabeth makes everyone around her want to celebrate and enjoy each others company doing new, fun, and creative things. She hosted her daughter’s first birthday party here as well as an “Alien Party”, where everyone played alien quizzes and ate “moon pies.”

A – Accessible: Elizabeth does not lock herself in her office. She is always around talking to residents, visiting them, making them smile answering their questions and concerns and making them feel special.

R-Reassuring and Reliable: Elizabeth may not always know the answers but she tries to find out and even if she knows you may not like the answer, she tells you. She is a trustworthy face in a place where people have lots of doubt around them.

I-Imaginative and Innovative: Elizabeth is always looking for ways to do new things and to make our lives fun. She takes people on bus rides to scenic areas and the apple orchard so that they can experience new things.

N-Nurturing:  Elizabeth encourages residents to do new things, even if it was not her idea. She facilitated getting a reading book machine for a resident who loves to read but cannot physically do it anymore as well as one for Spanish books, just to help sooth two different lonely and sad residents.

G-Generous: After taking all the residents to an outing, she took two other residents to see a sick friend at the hospital. This was despite the fact that her poor baby girl had been in daycare all day. She and the baby were tired but she has a huge generosity of spirit which leads by example.”
