Dr. Jawad Bajwa is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician Specialist. He completed his medical residency training in PM&R at the prestigious Washington University School of Medicine in Saint Louis.
As a Physiatrist, Dr. Bajwa specializes in optimizing the rehabilitation progress of his patients. He works with the interdisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and social workers to help ensure patients have a productive rehabilitation experience. Dr. Bajwa also addresses any barriers to therapy such as pain, neuropathy, fatigue, weakness, edema, anorexia, and bowel/bladder issues to help patients reach their functional goals. He works with a diverse patient population including:stroke, traumatic brain injury, hip fractures, knee replacements,orthopedic surgery cases, neurosurgery cases, neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Alzheimer’s dementia, and general deconditioning.
Helping patients in some of their most difficult periods in life to regain lost independence from illness, or injury, and get back to their loved ones and favorite activities, is the most rewarding aspect of his work. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Medical Society of Northern Virginia. Dr. Bajwa provides his services to facilities throughout Northern Virginia.
